Ritorna la seconda edizione di 167 Art project

dal 19 Novembre al 3 Dicembre, due settimane dedicate alla street art                     nel cuore del quartiere 167B di Lecce, zona stadio

Colori, opere monumentali, un nuovo e dinamico senso dello spazio condiviso dagli abitanti del quartiere, scandiranno i giorni previsti per l’intervento. Le palazzine e le loro facciate saranno riformulate, e riconsiderate come tela bianca da cui far emergere nuove prospettive, scaturite dalla creatività degli artisti coinvolti:  Dimitris Taxis di Athene, Grecia e Sabotaje Al Montaje delle Canarie, Spagna, chiamati ad ordire trame composite in seno alla lettura sociologica del luogo e della realtà circostante.

La capacità universale dell’arte di strada di creare nuovi scenari, aprire contesti chiusi, ridisegnare possibilità, restituire familiarità a chi il quartiere lo vive e lo attraversa tuti i giorni, attraverso l’enucleazione di temi sociali importanti e legati anche alla tradizione del territorio, renderanno possibile, l’intervento artistico nell’ottica di riqualificazione di un contesto periferico.

Il progetto, reduce del successo e della sentita accoglienza dell’anno precedente, si colloca in una linea di continuità e forte autodeterminazione della comunità della zona. Infatti questa seconda edizione è stata voluta fortemente dalla comunità parrocchiale San Giovanni Battista, nella persona di Don Gerardo, e dalla coesione che la causa ha scaturito tra i suoi abitanti. La comunità del quartiere ha affidato e richiesto l’intervento organizzativo e la direzione artistica di 167B street, laboratorio d’arte urbana, nome ispirato all’omonimo quartiere, diretto da Anna Kitlas e Chekos’art.

From November 19th to December 3^rd  returns the second edition of 167 Art projects, two weeks dedicated to street art in the heart of the 167B district of Lecce.

Colors, monumental works, a new and dynamic sense of space will mark the days scheduled for the intervention. Buildings and their facades will be reformulated and reconsidered as a blank canvas in order  to bring out new perspectives. Artists involved are: Dimitris Taxis from Athene, Greece and Sabotaje Al Montaje from the Canary Islands, Spain, called to composite plots in the bosom to the sociological reading of the place and the surrounding reality.

The universal ability of street art to create new scenarios, open closed contexts, redesign possibilities, restore familiarity with those who live in the neighborhood and pass through it every day, through the interpretation of important social themes also linked to the tradition of the territory  will make artistic intervention with a possible view to redeveloping a peripheral context.

The success of the first edition and the warm welcome of the previous year is a fruit of continuity and strong self-determination of the community in the area. In fact this second edition was strongly desired by the parish community San Giovanni Battista, especially in the person of Don Gerardo and by the cohesion that the cause has arisen among its inhabitants. The community of the district has entrusted and requested the organization of this intervention and the artistic direction of 167B street, an urban art laboratory directed by Anna Kitlas and Chekos’art.
