Il nostro intervento in città Augustow in Polonia è stata un’esperienza molto importante per noi della 167/B Street, un po’ perché organizzare una serie di interventi in un’altra nazione è sempre un’esperienza gratificante, un po’ perché sentiamo la Polonia parte di noi in quanto la nostra Presidentessa Ania è nata a Białystok. Ci ha sempre parlato della sua terra, facendoci sentire parte di un’unica comunità, ed è proprio da questo presupposto che è nata questa collaborazione tra noi e il comune di Augustow.

Tutti i progetti di questa entità richiedono mesi di preparazione, motivo per cui abbiamo lavorato in costante confronto con un’amministrazione che per la prima volta si è aperta all’idea di realizzare opere murarie di grandi dimensioni. Non è stato semplice trovare un “punto” di incontro, perciò abbiamo capito che sarebbe stato necessario cambiare un po’ il nostro “punto” di vista.

Abbiamo scelto, insieme al comune, alcuni temi che potessero donare valore e senso al nostro intervento, le bozze stesse non sono state scelte dall’amministrazione ma bensì dai cittadini attraverso un processo inclusivo basato sull’espressione di una preferenza verso l’opera che più sentivano vicina.

Così siamo partiti!

Augustow è uno splendido paesino nel nord-est della Polonia, caratterizzato dalle sue incredibili foreste e dai suoi meravigliosi laghi, una meta turistica molto gettonata in Polonia.

Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di essere accolti da una settimana di sole intenso, e tra una porzione di Pierogi e una di Pyzy siamo diventati parte della collettività e della quotidianità di questo incredibile paese.

A suon di vodka abbiamo stretto le maglie dei rapporti creatisi durante quest’esperienza. E per questo, non possiamo che ringraziare la Polonia, che ci ha accolti facendoci sentire a casa

The project in Augustow, Poland from last July  was a very important experience for us as 167 / B Street studio, partly because organizing a series of interventions in another country is always a rewarding experience, partly because we feel Poland as part of us as our own. The President of our association Ania Kitlas was born in Białystok. She has always talked to us about her land, making us feel part of a single community.

The whole project required months of preparation, during while we worked in constant dialogue with an administration of the municipality of Augsutow that for the first time opened itself to the idea of building large-scale urban art works. It was not easy to find a meeting “point”, so we understood that it would be necessary to change our “point” of view a little.

We have chosen, together with the municipality, some themes that could give values and meanings to our intervention, the drafts were not chosen by the administration but rather by the citizens through an inclusive process based on the expression of a preference towards the work that most they felt close.

So we have started!

Augustow is a beautiful village in the north-east of Poland, characterized by its incredible forests and its wonderful lakes, a very popular tourist destination in Poland.

We were lucky enough to be greeted by a week of intense sunshine, and between a portion of Pierogi and one of Pyzy we became part of the community and everyday life of this incredible country.

To the sound of vodka we tightened the links of the relationships created during this experience. And for this, we can only thank Poland, who welcomed us and made us feel at home
