Ida Vendola was born in 1992 in Ruvo di Puglia. She grew up in Terlizzi, in the Province of Bari. After obtaining her high school degree from the Liceo Artistico G. De Nittis, in Bari, she is currently undertaking her studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti, in Lecce.
The protagonists of Ida’s graphic illustrations are famous people from the world of the arts and culture, music, and cinema. The works are characterized by a dark emptiness created through these famous faces without their eyes. Despite this gloom, the absence enriches the soul of each protagonist rendering him recognizable. The chiaroscuro stroke used is nervous, instinctive, and reckless; it is not premeditated. While in contrast, the stroke on the hair and beard is acute and meticulous.
“Souls Without Eyes” is Ida’s debut exhibit.
