About us

167/B Street is an urban art lab founded in Lecce in 2012, in the 167 social housing neighbourhood. We work with artists, schools, associations and residents to turn anonymous walls into places that tell stories.

Our story

167/B Street was born among the geometric buildings and the contradictions of Lecce’s outskirts.

In 2012 the artist Chekos’art and the cultural curator Ania Kitlas decided to turn those grey walls into spaces of expression, beauty and participation.

Since then we have told stories through public art: murals, installations, workshops and festivals. Every intervention is a dialogue with the place. It is a shared gesture that fills the urban silence with signs, colours and faces.

167/B Street is not just an association. It is a collective lab where urban art meets everyday life, listens to it and transforms it.

Our values

We believe art can build community, open up new ways of seeing and change how people see places and each other. That is why we work closely with schools, associations, and local and international networks.

PARTICIPATORY
ART

Every mural starts from a dialogue with the people who live in the neighbourhood. We listen to the place before we paint.

URBAN
REGENERATION

We turn abandoned or anonymous spaces into places of beauty, identity and encounter.

NON-FORMAL
EDUCATION

Our workshops bring urban art into schools, prisons and vulnerable communities.

INTERNATIONAL
PROJECTS

Since 2012 we have worked with artists and partners in Italy, Albania, Poland, Greece, Ireland, Belgium and Luxembourg.
